Lavender Wind Farm – Coupeville, Washington

August 2015

I wanted to spend one night on Whidbey Island close to the Coupeville Ferry that I was catching early in the morning to cross over to the Olympic Peninsula. I also wanted to stay at my first Harvest Host location. Turns out I could kill two birds with one stone by staying at Lavender Wind Farm, where I camped by lavender fields, with an excellent view of Puget Sound.

While you can stay free at a Harvest Host location, the deal is that you should spend a few bucks at your host’s facility, assuming they have a store or other place to buy something. I ended up buying several lavender products, including delicious lavender ice cream, lavender scone mix, and some tasty cookies.

While I was too late in the season to enjoy full fields of lavender blooms, I still enjoyed a very peaceful evening next to the lavender fields, while experiencing a spectacular sunset over Puget Sound.
